I have the TiVo box . ive also noticed That when I watch subtitles on pre recorded bbc channels it doesn’t work even when it states that subtitles are on. This was thought to be needlessly confusing and subtitles were later allocated page 888 on all channels. I thought I'd bring this thread up-to-date, as I find having teletext subtitles turned on helps me learn my German, and I thought it might be useful for other folk These are the channels I can get on DVB-T in Berlin/Brandenburg. The channels with teletext subtitles (in German natürlich) are in bold. I had a look at the subtitle teletext page 888 (same scene from first post). Page888_02.txt 1000bytes 19 downloads . Between the words there is a control character (colour definition). The problem is, that this character is being removed without getting replaced by a space.
